It’s hard to believe that Cancun was developed just in the last century from nothing, except pristine white sands and glorious warm water, and nowadays has become one of the most coveted sites in the world for vacationing. Those white sand beaches, and warm turquoise water are certainly the crux of the appeal. Coral Mar is unique, sited on the inland bay, the Nichupte Lagoon, with a mini beach with palapas, views over to the super-developed coast, yet with a unique exclusivity about it. Of course, there is a swimming pool, multiple spacious suites, all with a terrace, a practical provisions’ shop, travel agency and taxis waiting to ferry you anywhere. The “Palapa” styled poolside restaurant Linda Mar — is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – all-day happy hour and great Margaritas, caipirinhas, mojitos, etc. The Coral Mar resort area claims not only nearby archeological sites, but most visitors are drawn to Mayan cities at Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Coba. So although ancient history abounds, you have a pleasant retreat from the frenzy of the beachfront, and lack nothing, including a splendid golf course, which literally is a short walk up the road. In town, you’ll find the clear waters of the Caribbean, reputed for extraordinary swimming, scuba diving, sailing, game fishing, para-sailing, snorkeling, sailing, jet skiing, biking, and yacht cruising (Be sure and visit the nearby Isla Mujeres — a tiny island resort with a classy indoor/outdoor restaurant.) Or, you can just dance the night away at the numerous ritzy night-clubs, returning at goodness-knows what hour to your deluxe accommodation, and spend the next day rejuvenating bayside. Approximately a 30-minute drive from the airport. Request either the "Special Direct Service" from a yellow and white airport van or the "Collective Transportation Service".
